REFORM architekt takes over the renovation of VERO CASA

VERO CASA by REFORM architekt is deeply rooted in the existing surroundings in Poland while drawing from Italian design. Architect Marcin Tomaszewski took a considerate renovative approach, acknowledging the potential and history of the current structure rather than forcefully imposing drastic changes. The site wasn’t an empty plot but housed a structure with a distinctive style from two decades ago, reminiscent of Tuscany, particularly in its layout and towers.

Tomaszewski’s strategy was to enhance the existing Italian style, refraining from demolishing the old house. Instead, he opted to age the structure gracefully and introduced a new design to complement it seamlessly. The resulting U-shaped house allows for a coherent distribution of functions, intertwining with each other while preserving existing plantings, including trees, on the property.

renovation project maintains the initial Italian atmosphere

From the garden side, the house reveals a strategic setback of one volume relative to the other, forming a cohesive composition influenced by the designed elevation. The materials used—corten, wood, and concrete—are authentic, creating an elevation that harmoniously blends with the natural surroundings. Tomaszewski‘s commitment to authenticity extended to resourcefulness, as roof tiles from the dismantled towers were repurposed for the new roof.

Inside, REFORM architekt maintained consistency with authenticity, advising on interior furnishings that align with the project’s ethos. A notable detail is the residents’ strategic relocation during the construction process, ensuring a seamless transition from the old to the new part of the house. Today, the renovated space serves as a modern spa and gym, offering a tranquil retreat in harmony with its surroundings.
