During Milan Design Week 2023, Effe‘s stand offered visitors an immersive journey into the natural elements of air, water, earth, and fire, all of which served as the driving inspiration behind their saunas and Turkish baths. The manufacturing company of wellness products took a pivotal turn with two projects that elevate the concept of the home spa: Aladdin by Rodolfo Dordoni with Michele Angelini, and Natural by Marco W. Fagioli. The products illustrate the latest advancements of Effe Perfect Wellness, giving users a state-of-the-art balance for the body and mind.

Established under the name Effegibi in 1987 as a producer of Finnish saunas; Effe has through the years looked to bring this product – used mainly in collective spaces – into use in private homes and make it available to the general public. In 2005, the company began expanding until taking upon its biggest project in 2016 with Rodolfo Dordoni, exponentially setting Effe Perfect Wellness apart in the industry and into the international market. With the Aladdin sauna by Rodolfo Dordoni and Michele Angelini, and Natural by Marco Williams Fagioli, Effe merges tradition and new visions of the future in a recognizable style that becomes apparent. The two models were debuted during Salone del Mobile 2023.

Aladdin is the latest 2023 product to come from Effe’s long-standing partnership with Rodolfo Dordoni. Together with Michele Angelini, the designer conjures up images of flying carpets and the idea of weightlessness, designed to become a discreet, understated addition to the home. What makes the sauna’s design stand out is its uncluttered walls and mirrored fascia, which runs around the bottom both inside and out. Internally, this reflective band gives the impression the furnishings are floating in the space, further highlighted by the soft, recessed bench lighting.

Outside, the fascia reflects the floor, creating visual continuity with the surroundings. The benches are made with just two pieces of wood and their rounded edges give them a naturally elegant and comfortable appeal. The heater, the heart of the sauna, is cladded in anodized aluminum which is a visual nod to the exterior frame in the same material. Another distinctive feature of the design is the platform covered in grès porcelain that can be installed inside to appear like a raised – flying – carpet.

Natural by Marco Williams Fagioli combines three wellbeing rituals – the Hammam, sauna and infrared sauna – and all the benefits their heat offers in one single design. The modules, all produced in the same size (140 x 105 x 214 h cm), can be installed in homes, hotels or resorts. They are cladded externally in heat-treated aspen, making them sophisticated and pleasant to the touch, and have an 8mm transparent toughened glass wall along the front. The interiors, however, feature different materials in keeping with the traditions and technical requirements of each wellness ritual.

The Natural Hammam, cladded internally in grès porcelain, promotes the beneficial effects that steam has on the mind and body. A Nuvola steam generator is housed under the bench and is controlled using an intuitive white glass panel with backlit icons, as color therapy completes the experience. The shower elevates the sensory wellness further with refreshing and toning features. To complete the overall effect, the fittings come in three different finishes – chrome, matte black and matte gunpowder grey.

The sauna of the same collection is made entirely of heat-treated aspen, conveying a natural feeling of comfort. Inside is a high bench with room for two people and a lower movable seat with a thick laminated grès porcelain top which matches the panel behind the heater. As in the Hammam, the side wall has a backlit satin-finish glass panel which makes the space feel larger. The transparency of the glass ensures light floods into the sauna, letting the user connect with the surroundings and eliminating any feeling of being enclosed. Additionally, the 3kW heater quickly brings the sauna up to temperature for a truly relaxing wellness experience.

The third product in the Natural series combines the benefits of infrared rays with design to offer a solution to the ever-growing demand for this kind of treatment, especially in northern Europe. Once inside, infrared rays penetrate the skin deep down, warming the body at a temperature lower than in a traditional sauna – around 30-40°C – and relaxing tendons and muscles. Like the other cubicles in the collection, this product is made of heat-treated aspen and has an expanse of clear glass along the front wall, while the bench has been positioned to receive the direct heat of the infrared lamps. As well as the physical benefits of this kind of sauna, the red light and bearable heat ensure a feeling of relaxation.

Other products that were presented during Salone del Mobile 2023 include the first outdoor sauna of Effe Perfect Wellness, the Cabanon, created by the designers of Aladdin. Rodolfo Dordoni and Michele Angelini envisioned two versions: Garden, ideal for gardens and green spaces, and Terrace, for more urban settings such as terraces and verandas. Both versions offer 4.0 kW or 8.0 kW heaters, warm LED lighting, and a hand-held shower on the deck for outdoor sauna enjoyment, providing a sense of warmth and privacy. Moreover, the modular qualities of the sauna make it extremely easy to transport and install, even in the most inaccessible places.

Yoku SPA, designed by Marco William Fagioli, combines a sauna, Turkish bath, and shower in one product. It comes in various wood and grès porcelain options, featuring a sleek design for seamless integration. The Shelf version, debuted at Salone del Mobile, incorporates exterior shelving, blending indoor and outdoor spaces. Cladded in dark wood, the sauna and the Turkish bath feature a Dove Grey finish of the grès porcelain for an elegant touch.

Likewise, BodyLove SH by Rodolfo Dordoni and Michele Angelini is a modular spa system that combines a sauna, Turkish bath, and shower, offering a personal, elegant, functional, and versatile spa experience. Clients can customize the system’s orientation, door placement, and materials to suit their preferences. The front version includes a sauna with dark wood cladding and a Hammam with a Champagne finish on the grès porcelain. The display is complemented by a matching lounger from the same collection.

The Waterdream mini pool, designed by Giovanna Talocci and Marco Pallocca, offers the combined benefits of a sauna or Turkish bath with the relaxation of water. t features various whirlpool modes and colorful lights to enhance well-being and relaxation.

Effe is also presenting three Hammam systems, including their Inside, Nuvola Smart Power, and Touch&Steam steam generators, along with exclusive Tuttovetro Inside and Spazio Slide doors, designed to ensure a perfect seal against escaping steam, thus creating proper air circulation and transforming even the smallest shower in the home into a professional Turkish bath.
