Introspective House by Kerimov Architects splits in five units

Introspective House by Kerimov Architects finds its place on a 50-acre site in Moscow, adjacent to the Losiny Ostrov National Park. The architectural composition comprises five interconnected volumes, strategically designed to prioritize the privacy of its eight residents spanning different generations. Each volume serves a distinct purpose, with the first one hosting the common living room and kitchen—a space intended for family gatherings. The second volume caters to the client’s parents, featuring a kitchen and living room.

A dedicated volume for sports and leisure activities, including a personal gym and spa, is allocated as the third block. The fourth volume encompasses three kids’ rooms and a home office, thoughtfully separated from the children’s living quarters. Additionally, the -1 level houses the garage, utility blocks, and storage rooms, utilizing 200 sqm of the total 1200 sqm area. Natural materials take precedence in the residential project, with heat-treated wood lining the volumes dedicated to spa and the living area, while brickwork without offset characterizes the remaining structures.

Distinctive roofs delineate the varied functions of the volumes

Kerimov Architects‘ distinctive cantilevered roofs characterize the residential volumes, while flat roofs distinguish communal living areas like the living room and spa. Oriented towards the inner courtyard and shielded by a dense villa community and forest, all viewpoints prioritize seclusion. The design aligns with the theme of introspection, encouraging inhabitants to turn inward and maintain privacy. Slight rotations of volumes like the common living room, kids’ room, and master bedroom enhance the courtyard’s visual expansiveness. Emphasizing the principle of ‘concentration on the internal,’ a serene pond with a waterfall becomes the focal point at the composition’s center.
