from bentley to ferrari and bugatti to mercedes-benz, the 2019 geneva motor show was parked full of cars making their world debuts. the fair not only showcased some brand new, extremely powerful sportscars but also exhibited innovative, forward-thinking electric concepts and production vehicles – as we predicted in our preview beforehand. in light of these electrified presentations, we round-up 10 electric models that wow-ed us at their official reveals.
alfa romeo tonale concept
as their first plug-in hybrid, the alfa romeo tonale concept combines electrification with the brand’s unique, distinctive italian styling. sculpted with the essence of art, this design composes the harmony of their racing heritage with anticipation for the future. the compact SUV has been designed through the care of human touch whilst being inspired by the beauty and nuances of the human form itself.
aston martin lagonda all-terrain concept

aston martin‘s electric sub-brand lagonda has unveiled its all-terrain concept, following their vision concept four-seater exhibited in 2018. sourcing some of its design language from the world of superyachts, a highlight is the car’s large rear overhang that has a clean curved belt line running across the hatchback panel. it is set to go on the market in 2022, where it will deliver zero emission driving thanks to an electric drive train with batteries stored in the floor.
AUDI Q4 e-tron concept
dynamic yet sustainable, the AUDI ‘Q4 e-tron’ concept hints at the design of the fifth series production electric vehicle that the brand will introduce by the end of 2020. as well the agile, all-round, compact four-door SUV will ensure all-electric mobility will cover all of the manufacturer’s main market segments. its ‘solar sky’ paint reflects short-wave fraction of sunlight, which reduces the build-up of heat on the surface and thus the interior. this benefits the occupants whilst reducing the energy input required for air conditioning.
citroën ami one concept
citroën unveiled its ami one concept, touting the mini car as a ‘disruptive all-electric object‘. the two-person NEV is designed as a small yet personable alternative to public transport, and can be driven by anyone 16 or older, even without a license. it is 2.5m long and has a 62-mile (100km) range with a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h).
fiat concept centoventi
as its name in italian suggests, the fiat concept centoventi celebrates the quirky, beloved brand’s 120th anniversary. in their typical fashion, the concept car aims to break away from traditional looks, design and engineering to showcase a bold, democratic, affordable vision of electric mobility in the near future. as a highlight of this, the vehicle can be re-configured on a daily basis by its owner thanks to its modular design and services.
GFG style kangaroo

with a striking name like kangaroo, GFG style’s two-seater, electric hyper-SUV made quite the jump at the geneva motor show. with four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, its styling is a match for any terrain. this design includes futuristic headlights, an adaptive spoiler and a clean but sharp line that stretches along both sides. housing two 180 kW motors, the hyper-SUV accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 155 mph.
hispano suiza carmen

after teasing it in february 2019, spanish automotive/engineering company hispano suiza has released its new 1,019 horsepower electric supercar. called ‘carmen’, it is inspired by the early-20th-century dubonnet xenia, baring visual similarities when shown side by side. the new edition has sliding doors, an enveloping windscreen, and futuristic lines whilst a carbon fibre monocoque and body panels keep its weight under 1,690 kg.
pininfarina battista

said to be ‘the world’s first luxury electric hyper performance GT’, the pininfarina battista will arrive in production in 2020 with zero emissions yet extreme power. it will race from 0 -62 mph in less than two seconds, thanks to 1,900 hp and 2,300 Nm torque on tap. in an elegant form, the car evokes similar styling to the coach-building brand’s classic models. smooth yet curved surfaces are carved with sharp lines and even overhangs, as shown with the rear’s taillights.
polestar 2
polestar – volvo’s electric performance brand – revealed the second of its trio of new cars. it follows the two-door model ‘1′ in 2017 by going a segment above as an all-electric, five-door fastback. with an avant-garde design, the premium compact car contains a 78kwh battery capacity, producing 408hp and 600nm of torque that races it from 0-62mph in less than five seconds and also offers a range of 310 miles per full charge.
volkswagen I.D. BUGGY
volkswagen has released a new electric dune buggy, a modern reinterpretation of the classic cars that were first created in the 1960s. as a two-seater with no doors and no roof, the airy I.D. BUGGY is designed for hitting the road in the heat, whether that’s for a beach holiday or just a summer drive. its battery-powered 201-horsepower electric motor offers a range estimate of 155 miles, and can go from zero to 62 mph in 7.2 seconds with a speed of 99 mph.
